SO
I've had 2 bad days this week. One was Monday when I forgot it was a holiday and that Nate didn't have school. I was exhausted from a busy weekend at work, and Nate was in this mood to where whatever we did he did not want to do it. SO I found myself away from home, away from my healthy food, and I jumped back into my old habits of running through a fast food place. The same thing happened yesterday on Thursday, I had appointments out all day, and I did not bring healthy food with me. however when I weighed this morning I did NOT re-gain those 3lbs, which made me feel better.
SO how do I deal with eating healthy and being away from home??? I guess I have to get into the head thought of "well before I leave the house I need to pack some food to go" which I can, that's just something else to adjust into my morning routine. My favorite new food that I actually tried and enjoyed this morning was Greek Yogurt with a little bit of granola.
The only thing I'm worried about my new healthy food kick, is Nate, I hope he will adjust to eating the new food, it will be just as good for him as it is for me. However ever since he was a baby he has been underweight and small so I never felt bad if he ate a lot of calories, his metabolism is nothing like mine!!
Next week, the 23rd. I have a J-Term (January term) class which meets from 8-5(ish) everyday for 1 week. then I have the last week of Jan. off and the spring semester starts Feb 6th. So I have until Feb 6th to get into a healthy eating routine. Lord help me!
Also like really my muscles ACHE from working out! yesterday my leg hurt so bad I didn't want to walk...I did, but I didn't want to move it! When I was more active (before marriage/child/grad school)I don't remember the aches and pains so bad, but maybe that's just because I'm getting old!
SO that's all for now folks. I'm working out tonight! I prob won't blog again until Monday as its another busy weekend!
Hi Becky! Good for you! I know it is very hard to change old habits but good for you for realizing that you had a couple of hard days this week but you got right back to eating better the next day. As for the aching muscles, be careful. It takes about 48 hours for your muscles to repair themselves. If your leg is hurting, work on a different muscle group. Do arms instead. I know you want to keep the momentum going but if your really hurt yourself you are going to be out of commission longer then if you take a day to rest. Make sure you take at least one day a week to rest your body and vary your exercises each day to give each muscle group a rest. Good luck and in the long run, the healthier eating is going to be better for both you and Nate. If you see a drop in his weight, talk to his dr. and there are always healthier fats/calories than junk food. Whole milk, whole milk yogurt, etc.
ReplyDeleteI think you are doing a great job! any habits you make now for Nate that you didn't have growing up, like eating fish, will be good, hard transition, more for you than him. Greek yougurt is awesome, and they make some that come with granola on top, I just bought some last week. With the muscle soreness, are you drinking enough water, or sports drinks? they say you should drink 64fld ounces of water a day, I know that seems like a lot, especially if you don't like water and if you are addicted to diet coke, like me, but they say it's good for you. I always keep a bottle of water in my purse on busy days that way I always have something to drink even when I get a bit hungry I know if I drink the water it helps prevent a trip to QT for an unhealthy snack. I have also really gotten into the 100 calorie snack things, walmart makes a brand, and they have the best chocolate covered pretzles that rock when you need a quick sweet snack... But what do I really know about all of this, I'm not that much different from you. Ben might know some more tricks about sore muscles since he runs... Just my thoughts. Keep up the good work. Love ya!
